California Gunman's Apparent 'Manifesto' Details Hatred of All Women
Sat May 24, 2014
In reply to: Dr.Ph. #4.5: Good series of posts, now, the facts: The most likely diagnosis for this guy is "Narcissistic Personality Disorder" - a reflexive belief in one's own superiority and an inclination (more like obsession) to blame any disappointment or failure or upset on "others".  …
Suspected California Gunman Identified as Son of Movie Director
Sat May 24, 2014
In reply to: Marcus Aurelius #10: Oh, c'mon - a rich, Hollywood brat and you think that he couldn't obtain access to mental health services? 5 will get you 10 one or both of his parents are seeing a pshrink, so he's familiar with the process and, had they not been so self-involved, they might …
3 More Arrests in Miss. Sen. Cochran Photo Probe
Thu May 22, 2014
As a non-Tea Party conservative (NOTE: There are actually two "Tea Parties", the original, "Tea Party Patriots", who are a bipartisan group chiefly concerned with tax policy and fiscal responsibility, and the faux "Tea Party Express", which is a group of crazed "social conservatives" who have …
3-D Printed Guns Lead to Arrest of Man in Japan
Thu May 8, 2014
In reply to: shoot 'em all #5.5: My father (a WWII paratrooper) didn't think much of his sons' "gun nuttiness", having had his fill of shooting, BUT he remained, to the end of his days, rabidly anti-gun registration. Why? Because he remembered that, in every French village he went t …
Professor's son arrested after scare at Conn. university
Mon Nov 4, 2013
Oddly, by the time I read this article, I had heard several reports form the MSM alleging a man with an "assault rifle", when it now appears that the only weapon (or arguable weapon) ever seen or reported was some kind of "sword" (or something that looked like a sword, such as an umbrella).
Gunman opens fire at LAX, killing TSA worker and wounding others

The last time I was in an airport (Portland, Oregon), I was standing in the line, waiting to go through the security screening.
American tourist is 'lucky to be alive' after suicide bomb blast at Tunisian hotel
Wed Oct 30, 2013
What a happy ending - one scumbag blown to bits without collateral damage, all because he couldn't get past a couple of hotel doormen. Makes one feel warm and fuzzy.
Girl accused of bullying 'saddened' by Florida 12-year-old's suicide
Thu Oct 17, 2013
Anytime a 12 year old kills herself, it's a tragedy, but it's also invariably the consequence of multiple factors. It is that reality which provokes my upset with the battle cry of "bullying" which inevitably gets invoked when these horrors happen.
Maryville, Missouri sex assault case: Hack group Anonymous plans 'Twitter storm'
Wed Oct 16, 2013
"The boys are politically connected"... Really? The story doesn't say that. It says that ONE of the boys was from a "prominent local family" (whatever that means). Nothing there about "political connections".
'It's very good news' Malala didn't win the Nobel Peace Prize: Pakistani Taliban
Fri Oct 11, 2013
This is precisely the kind of story Americans SHOULD be reading. Unless you know the type of people you are up against, you cannot effectively resist them (that's not just me talking, it's actually one of Sun Tzu's more famous bits of advice "On War").
